It certainly doesn't happen every year- so when we here at Porsche of Monterey in Seaside, CA received word that our automaker debuted a completely new member of the 2014 Porsche new model lineup, we just had to take a moment to fill in our valued area clientele on all the exciting new details.
Yes indeed, this year at the prestigious annual Detroit Automotive Show, our automaker debuted a completely brand-new Porsche Targa model, which was an iconic Porsche model back in the 60s for its unique half-roof convertible design, but has been out of production for decades now. The new iteration is truly beautiful, high performing, and completely unique in a sometimes stuffy convertible segment.
Just like the original Targa back in 1965, this new iteration contains a distinctive roof bar, which comes with a removable front roof section (the convertible section) and an incredibly distinctive wrap around rear window. However, unlike the original Targa, all of this technology is adaptable at the push of a button, and stows the roof in a fully automatic fashion behind the rear seats.
Under the hood, the high levels of innovation and performance continue. The model comes exclusively in all wheel drive, and is powered by a 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine that pumps out 350 horsepower, and accelerates from zero to sixty miles per hour in under five seconds.
