We've already told you a little bit about the upcoming Porsche Macan, a stylish crossover slotted just smaller than the Cayenne in the automaker's lineup. With its arrival on our shores quite imminent, our preferred performance brand is giving us some details about what we can expect as far as engines and power.

Of course, this is a Porsche we're talking about, so there's nothing lacking.

The initial offerings, as indicated by a recent press release, suggest that the Macan will be housing either a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 340 horsepower, or a 3.6-liter twin turbocharged mill with 400 horsepower.

Not a bad gambit for either, we daresay. But that's not all we're getting with the Macan. According to Porsche, there will be a couple of four-cylinder iterations, but these won't be offered in America. Instead, we'll be getting a Macan S Diesel sometime in early 2015.

With diesel gaining more and more ground in the U.S., the prospect of having a powerful crossover powered by such a mill is thrilling. What's more, the 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 is said to boast 248 horsepower. This may be less than the other traditional V6 offerings, but it amps up the torque substantially to 413 lb.-ft over the alternative's 339.

Naturally, we'll keep you in the loop as we learn more about the Macan's offerings and price by way of our blog.
